The University of Wolverhampton held its second Family and Community Day at its Telford Campus, coinciding with the main June Open Day. The event aimed to engage local communities, showcase campus facilities, and promote course offerings. Activities included tours of engineering facilities, STEM workshops, cultural performances, and interactive displays from various academic departments. Local companies and organisations participated, providing activities like a fire engine display, basketball coaching, and an exotic animal show. The event successfully combined community engagement with the opportunity for prospective students to explore the campus and its programs.
Rawzone’s sessions offered attendees, particularly children and young people, the opportunity to learn some basic basketball skills and techniques.
The coaching included:
- Short drills focusing on dribbling, passing, and shooting
- Fun, interactive games to engage participants of various skill levels
- Brief explanations of basketball rules and strategy
- Opportunities for attendees to ask questions about the sport
Our session was inclusive and enjoyable for all ages and abilities, aiming to spark interest in the sport and promote physical activity among local families.
We want to thank our amazing volunteers, supporters, and most importantly, our young athletes who make our work possible and meaningful. This feature not only celebrates local events but also shines a light on the positive influence of youth sports in our community. We’re more motivated than ever to continue our mission of empowering local youth through basketball. If you missed the article, you can check it out at:
